The Plan for the Women's Climate Initiative

A private/public partnership will be established in order to:

1.	Create a global campaign raising awareness of the unique impact of climate change on women and empowering women to be recognized as leaders and strong agents for change;

2.	Fund research into how climate change is particularly affecting women including a global analysis;

3.	Identify key areas of vulnerability for women when coping with climate change in order to better target funds;

4.	Directly invest in women’s programs on-the-ground which seek to either adapt to or mitigate climate change and which simultaneously promote women as leaders on the village, community, and country levels;

* Already included in the Women’s Climate Initiative effort is Global Giving. www.globalgiving.org -

Global Giving will help identify programs on-the-ground around the world which will directly help

women affected by climate change. Preliminary examples below:

* Using Solar Energy for Cooking Fuel in Kenya

* Promote Sustainable Agriculture in Chiapas

* Environmental Conservation Builds Families in India

Wider scale programs will be identified once partnerships have been identified.

5.	Measure the success and lessons learned from these programs in order to determine their potential to be replicated and/or up-scaled in other regions.

6.	Work with public partners to advocate on behalf of women to ensure that climate change policies, decision-making, and initiatives at the global, regional and national levels are gender responsive.
